The Outbound Programs office at American Councils administers fellowships for study at the undergraduate and graduate level in Russia, Eurasia and Southeast Europe. The Outbound Programs staff is responsible for all aspects of program administration, from selection and placement to travel logistics and on-program support. During the 2007-2008 academic year, American Councils selected, placed, and oversaw the training and research of more than 300 American students, graduate students, teachers, and researchers at leading universities and research centers across Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia.
The Intern works closely with a team of six to assist in all administrative aspects of the Outbound Programs department. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Send resume and cover letter, with availability, to outbound@americancouncils.org.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Assists in the management of participant documents and data;
- Arranges travel and logistics for outgoing and incoming participants;
- Gathers information required for the compilation of grant reports;
- Performs routine administrative tasks (filing, copying, faxing);
- Assists with Orientation planning, set-up, and execution.
Qualifications:
- Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in international affairs or a related field of study;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel;
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities effectively;
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; detail-oriented; and
- Russian-language skills a plus, but not required.
